FAQ

What causes engines to breakdown?

Dirty oil and moisture are two of the most common sources that

lead to component failure in engines. Particles are constantly being

generated and introduced from the combustion process into your

engine which causes wear of engine components leading to reduced

engine life. Dirty oil erodes metal surfaces quickly and reduces the oil

lubricity which causes even more wear.

Why does my oil get dirty when I have a filter on my car?

The normal, full-flow filter in your vehicle will only filter out dirt and

“wear” particles down to 15-20 microns. Since most particles generated

in your engine are smaller than that, they remain in the oil and continue

to erode the metal surfaces in your engine. The standard filter in your vehicle also does not effectively remove damaging moisture from your engine. The Oil Extender removes moisture and particles down to 1 micron so your oil is clean, which makes your engine last longer.

Does adding The Oil Extender filter to my vehicle replace

the current oil filter?

It does not replace the current oil filter system. The Oil Extender is an additional filtration system commonly called a bypass or offline filtration system. It is installed separately from your current oil filter system (known as a full-flow system). The Oil Extender units are easy to install and can be mounted in any orientation, anywhere on a vehicle where there is room.

Why do I need an additional filtration system?

The standard oil filter that comes on the car is designed for a high rate full-flow oil filtration process and will only remove large particles. Because The Oil Extender filters out particles down to less than 1 micron, the oil flows through our filter much more slowly. Particles are constantly being generated and introduced from the combustion process into your engine, which causes wear of engine components leading to reduced engine life. Both filters working together will constantly clean your engine oil making the oil last longer and reduce wear in your engine.

If I filter my oil with the Oil Extender, will it still wear out

and need to be replaced?

Oil does not wear out but it does get dirty and needs to be replaced. Contaminates in the oil act on the additives and make them unable to work. Our filter will remove particles before they become chemically bonded to the additives in the oil thus making your oil last much longer. Viscosity and Lubricity are key indicators and The Oil Extender – Extends oil life!

My oil seems to look dirty and not clear in just a short time,

can it still be clean?

Oils with detergents in them will quickly turn reddish black or a dark blue-black (depending on the type of oil) due to the heat and combustion process in your engine. This is normal. Discolored oil doesn’t necessarily mean dirty oil. The particle counts seen in oil analysis reports prove that the oil is dramatically cleaner with the Oil Extender than even new oil right out of the bottle or bulk tank. Keeping dirt and fine particles out of your oil keeps it clean.

Will The Oil Extender effect the oil additives?

No, additives are unaffected by The Oil Extender. It will, however, remove the particles from the oil before the additives have a chance to chemically bond to them, helping the additives to stay effective much longer.

How often should I change the Oil Extender filter?

When you change your oil, you should change both the OEM and Oil Extender filters. With The Oil Extender installed, customers are reducing the need for oil changes and increasing the time between changes. We will determine how often you should change your oil through oil analysis, but in general customers are seeing time between oil changes increase several times.

What is the cleaning capacity of the Oil Extender?

The EX200 for small engines found in personal vehicles can clean up to 10 quarts. The EX400 for medium sized engines can clean 10-20 quarts. The EX800 for large engines found in industrial vehicles can clean 20-60 quarts. See full specifications here...

Will my vehicle’s manufacturer’s warranty be affected

if I increase my oil change interval?

Your warranty on the vehicle is not affected by adding the Oil Extender to your system. Rest assured that due to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, this is not a concern at all. The manufacturers recommended oil change interval is a suggestion not a requirement. Using the Oil Extender filter and our oil analysis program you are assured that your oil will stay within the correct parameters. When it approaches the control limits it is time to change your oil.

Why isn’t The Oil Extender installed on cars and trucks

at the factory?

Adding a bypass filtration system would make cars and trucks more expensive. Another reason is planned obsolescence. The more often your car breaks down and has to be replaced the more money the manufacturer makes. Someday the wisdom of better filtration may result in The Oil Extender begin offered on new cars, but it is not currently.

What is your warranty or guarantee that comes with

The Oil Extender?

Lifetime warranty against manufacturers defects to the original owner and purchaser of the Extender kit. Disposable filters are not included. If The Oil Extender fails to at least double the life of your engine oil we will gladly buy it back.
